The TSB will show its support of the IFS’ Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice qualification and attempt to revolutionise the mortgage broker market with the new TSB CeMAP Intermeidary Scheme. Launched this week, it will allow customers to apply directly to them for a mortgage or through another agent. The TSB hopes that this will raise its profile as a major mortgage provider. Over 200 staff, the majority of which will be TSB CeMAP trained and with experience of the mortgage broker market, and following a pilot scheme that was deemed a success, it is hoped that the full roll out of the scheme will follow suit. Roland McCormack, TSB’s Mortgage Intermediary Director, said: “TSB was born to bring competition to the market and we will be a substantial intermediary player. We’re dedicated to providing a great service to brokers and competitive mortgages for their customers. “However, service is our number one priority and we aren’t prepared to sacrifice for volume which is why we’re looking to grow organically.” 24 relationship managers will ensure service levels are kept and they will be in constant contact with broker branches to offer the highest level of support. All calls will be returned within three hours and emails received before 5pm will always be responded to the same day.
The futures bright for TSB CeMAP staff
With underwriters at the TSB having an average of ten years experience in the industry, brokers will have direct access to them and they will be able to discuss any decisions that they have made, promoting transparency and communication. Mr McCormack added: “You can copy systems but you can’t replicate people. This is why we have built an intermediary business with the focus on recruiting experts who care about providing a stand out service to brokers. “In doing so, we will provide mortgage brokers with the tools they need to help people buy their homes – making the process, from start to finish, as simple and transparent as possible.” As well as offering a great service to brokers and the public, the fact that TSB employees with CeMAP are an integral part of their plans shows just how well regarded the qualification is, and that those who are CeMAP qualified have a bright future.
